Pure Water Access Project
Is a non-profit organization founded by four Ohio State undergraduates, late in 2010. They are an international group which aims to conduct field research on clean water technologies (filters, wells, etc.) to determine which solutions work best in specific regions. It is well known throughout the humanitarian world that the majority of overseas interventions which aim to deliver water technologies to third-world settings fail, mostly due to what are described as “cultural barriers.” This essentially means a lack of understanding of the people of the region’s lifestyle, norms, and so on. Essentially, PWAP is working to quantify and describe what it is exactly that makes these projects fail, and then share that information with the larger humanitarian sector.
