Breath Test
At North Shore Gastroenterology, we offer several types of breath tests to determine various intolerances and infections, including lactose intolerance testing. These include:
- Hydrogen Breath Tests, which are used to detect lactose and fructose intolerance as well as bacterial overgrowth in the intestines. Examples of hydrogen breath tests include the lactose hydrogen breath test and the fructose hydrogen breath test.
- H. Pylori Breath Testing, which is a safe and simple test to identify an active Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterial infection in the stomach or duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).
Each of these breath tests are noninvasive and convenient ways to detect potential digestive issues.
